Friends of Sligo Creek's Annual Spring Sweep the Creek
When: Earth Day Weekend, Saturday, April 26, from 9-11am (most sections*) RAIN OR SHINE
*Section 2 (Maple Ave. to Carroll Ave., Takoma Park), Saturday, April 26, from 10am-12noon
*Section 4 (Wayne Ave to Piney Branch Rd, Silver Spring), Sunday, May 4, from 1-3pm
*Section 9 (North of University, Silver Spring), Sunday, April 27, from 1-3pm
What: Cleanup of litter, debris, and dumped items in Sligo Creek and Sligo Park
Where: Various sections in Sligo Creek, from Wheaton to Takoma Park
We supply bags, gloves, and drinking water. Students can earn service credit hours; we supply and sign the forms.
It is best for children to bring their own gloves, for best fit. We also want to encourage more adult volunteers with waders and high rubber boots to participate and get to the settled trash in the Creek bed itself.
