Elevation 314 Green Building

314 Carroll Street NW, Washington, DC

Elevation 314 (located in Takoma, D.C.) is an urban green building that incorporates a greenroof and a
Courtyard bio-retention system. The green roof is a 700 square foot intensive, grade-level installation
(over the underground garage) and was the first project in D.C. permitted to use a greenroof
in lieu of conventional storm water management system.

Detailed information about the Elevation 314's green roof

The Courtyard bio-retention system collects runoff from the building roof and
adjacent surface parking lot. The green roof can be seen in the background.

The 700 square foot intensive (30" thick) green roof
is located over the underground garage.

The street trees along Carroll Ave. have been provided with grating to allow
greater infiltration of rain water and captures some of the sidewalk runoff.
Street trees, because they are surrounded by impervious surfaces, are frequently stressed.
