MuddyWaterJuly2007

On July 15, 2007, a water main break at Sheffield Street and Fleetwood Terrace in Silver Spring caused red clay dirt to be washed into Sligo Creek. Red muddy water filled the creek downstream of Wayne Avenue. Click here to see a map showing the location of the break. The WSSC crew onsite reported that the break had occurred at 7am and that the water was shut off at 7:15am. Nevertheless a great amount of muddy water washed into the creek. The photos below were taken in the afternoon of July 15.
